It has inspired more than 1,000 movies and after the bible it's the biggest selling book of all time. But does Bram Stoker's gothic novel Dracula owe more of its inspiration to Ireland than to Transylvania?
Was Count Dracula really a bloodsucking Irish landlord who preyed on his19th century tenants? And were the undead and the gaunt haunted figures that fill the pages of Stoker's famous book straight out of Ireland's Great Famine?
These are the claims of the director of the Bram Stoker's Dracula Organisation Dennis McIntyre, who says that very few people know that Stoker was in fact an Irishman and his story of the unholy Vampire was in fact based on Ireland.

Sat 22nd of October and the Clontarf skyline rained Vampires, the defending Champion Shane Mullany appeared as if in a puff of smoke blood dripping from the corner of his twisted and evil face this man was here to win his crown was not for surrender .
Clontarf the home and birthplace of Bram Stoker fell silent as the Vampires dressed in all manner of Dracula costumes prepared for the blood bath and the second running of the World Championship 5k Vampire Cloak Race.
A straight course from St Anthony's Hall to the Bull Wall and Back ,the word at the half way point was that new blood was leading the way and the defending champions crown was fading fast.
In the Lady's race a clear leader had appeared in the form of Erin O'Connell
it was whispered in dark hallway's before the race that Erin had magical
and unholy powers which could transform her in the blink of an eyelid
into a Vampire Bat .
The finish was in sight and our New World Champion Mark Chrstie crossed the Finish line in a New World Record Time of 15.02 .
